Jintao Wang of Almedia: “Don’t Just Focus on Getting More Users - Get the Right Users for Your Game”

As Vietnam’s gaming ecosystem continues to expand beyond its reputation for high download volumes, global partners are increasingly paying attention to something else: the quality of the games being built, the ambition of the teams behind them, and their willingness to experiment with new ways to grow.

For Jintao Wang of Almedia, Vietnam is already one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing gaming markets. More local studios are succeeding internationally, more high-quality games are entering the global market, and Vietnamese developers, in his view, are particularly open to exploring new User Acquisition channels.

That was also what brought Almedia to Vietnam Game Connect 2026. Beyond introducing its experience in Rewarded UA and Monetization, the company came looking to meet local studios, understand the ecosystem more closely and build relationships that could last well beyond a single campaign.

Yet behind Wang’s optimism about Vietnam was an equally clear observation about mobile gaming as a whole: growth is getting harder. CPI is rising, acquisition volume alone is becoming less meaningful, and studios increasingly need to understand what happens to a player long after the initial install.

In an exclusive conversation with GameGeek at VGC 2026, Wang spoke about what Almedia looks for in Vietnamese studios, why the industry should pay more attention to D30 and D90, and why Rewarded UA is becoming part of a much longer-term growth strategy.

“Vietnamese game studios move fast and are incredibly talented”

What do you think about VGC 2026 so far? What do you expect to see at the event?

I think Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing markets in Southeast Asia. A lot of Vietnamese studios are already succeeding globally, and we are seeing more and more high-quality games coming from the country.

Vietnamese studios are also very open to trying new UA channels. That is one of the reasons we are excited to be here.

We want to share our experience in Rewarded UA, but at the same time, we also want to meet local studios and hopefully build long-term relationships with them.

What excites you most about Vietnam Game Connect this year?

For us, it is really the opportunity to meet local studios.

We are seeing many high-quality games in the global market, and Vietnam is producing more and more of them. So we want to speak directly with the local teams and share what we have learned, not only in User Acquisition but also on the Monetization side.

Ultimately, we are here because we want to build long-term relationships with Vietnamese studios.

What makes Vietnam one of the most exciting gaming markets today?

Vietnamese game studios move very fast, and they are incredibly talented.

There is also a very strong gaming community here. We are excited to become part of that community, speak with local game developers and monetization teams, and hopefully find opportunities where we can grow together over the long term.

“We are not only looking for games with big downloads”

What do you look for when choosing local studios to partner with?

We are not only looking for games with huge download numbers or companies with a very large size.

We are also looking for good products and ambitious teams.

The reason is that we are focused on long-term goals. We believe we can help teams continue growing over time through the UA and Monetization strategies we have developed.

We want to share that experience with local teams and build relationships that can develop together with their games.

“It’s not just about acquiring more users”

What’s the biggest shift happening in mobile gaming today?

I think today it is no longer just about acquiring more users. It is about acquiring high-quality users.

These are users who actively engage with your game and continue contributing revenue over time.

That is what Almedia is focusing on. Many of our existing partners are now using Rewarded UA as a continuous, long-term growth strategy rather than only something they use for a short period.

We want to bring that experience to Vietnamese studios as well.

How do you see Vietnam evolving over the next three to five years?

Vietnam has already grown very quickly over the past few years.

Looking ahead, I think we will see even more high-quality games coming from the market and more Vietnamese studios competing globally.

We also want to become part of this high-growth ecosystem. With our experience in UA and Monetization, we hope we can grow together with the local studios as the market continues developing.

The increasingly important role of Rewarded UA

Rewarded UA is growing rapidly. Why are so many studios adopting it?

Because it can create value for everyone involved.

On rewarded channels, players receive meaningful rewards. Developers can acquire very high-quality users. Advertisers, meanwhile, are able to reach people who are already actively looking for new games.

You can also give those users longer-term goals instead of making the install the end of the journey.

That is why we believe Rewarded UA has become an increasingly important part of the market, and it is also why we are excited to share our experience with more studios.

How is Almedia helping studios acquire higher-quality users more efficiently?

At Almedia, our focus is on bringing the right users into a game.

Through our platform Freecash, we connect games with users. That allows us to help partners acquire users who can remain engaged, contribute to ad monetization and continue creating value over the longer term.

We are seeing more partners recognize the importance of Rewarded UA, and our goal is to keep improving how we connect games with the users who are the right fit for them.

Get the right users for your game

What does a successful growth flywheel look like for a mobile game?

I think studios should focus much more on long-term goals.

That can mean looking at Day 30 and beyond. Some studios are even focusing on Day 90, rather than looking only at Day 1 or Day 7.

Acquiring the right users is becoming especially important because CPI is growing very quickly.

At Almedia, we want to help our partners acquire users who stay engaged and continue contributing revenue to the game. Combined with our UA platform and Monetization tools, that can help studios increase the revenue generated by their products over time.

For us, that is why long-term goals matter so much in the current market.

If you could give one piece of advice to game studios looking to grow globally, what would it be?

Right now, I would say: don’t just focus on getting more users. Get the right users for your game.

The right users can continue bringing revenue to the game, and they naturally have stronger engagement with the product.

That creates much healthier growth and a more continuous journey for the game over time.

We believe Almedia can help studios with that. We have a lot of experience to share, and we are very excited to be able to share it here with the Vietnamese gaming community.
